BLAZING DUMPSTERS DAMAGE LOCAL BUSINESS

(1/13/07 Montgomery Township) It was a close call in the early hours of a Saturday morning after a passerby spotted two blazing dumpsters outside a local wood manufacturing facility.

F.D.M.T. firefighters responded to Timberlane Woodcrafters on Domorah Drive just after midnight January 13th when a passing motorist spotted the burning dumpsters and called 9-1-1.  Montgomery Township Police arrived and reported that the dumpsters were located against the building with possible extension inside in the area of the loading dock.

18 units arrived shortly after led by Squad 18, which immediately went into service with a handline and forced an entry door adjacent to the loading dock to assess the interior.   Crews from Ladder 18, Engine 18-1, and Rescue 18 were also in service on the job.

Squad 18 made a quick knock on the blaze, keeping damage isolated to the exterior.  However, a heavy smoke condition inside the facility kept crews busy with ventilation.

Joining Station 18 were units from Station 7 (Wissahickon), Station 62 (North Penn), and Bucks County Station 19 (Doylestown)as the FAST team.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
