STAND DOWN FOR SAFETY!
(6/15/09 - Montgomery Township) - F.D.M.T.
firefighters joined with the Township Department of Fire
Services to focus on safety during a recent training night.
Captain Frank Colelli organized the
event, which put firefighters through their paces when it came
to many skills connected to firefighter self rescue and
survival.
  Held
inside the engine bay at the Battalion 1 firehouse, the training
included several skill stations including bailout training, SCBA
safety check and air management, Rapid Intervention Team (RIT)
simulation, and escaping a structure using a hoseline as a
guide.
The training was all part of Fire
and EMS Safety Week, which is a call to action for all first
responders to remember that their safety comes first, both for
themselves and their fellow firefighters.
All of the firefighters involved
said it was an excellent opportunity to refresh their skills,
and practice new ones.
