LOBSTER TALE
18 goes to work at popular Township Restaurant
(5/27/07 - Montgomery
Township) - Just before midnight on a holiday Sunday
evening F.D.M.T. firefighters were called into action to battle
a small fire inside the kitchen of the popular "Red Lobster"
restaurant at Five Points. An initial dispatch for an
automatic fire alarm was upgraded to a building fire after a
passerby reported smelling smoke in the area of the building.
Captain 18-1 arrived first
and initially reported "nothing showing" from the exterior, but
closer investigation through the windows of the closed
restaurant indicated a smoke condition inside. Chief 18
arrived shortly after and established command as Engine 18,
Ladder 18, and Rescue 18 arrived along with mutual aid from
North Penn Fire Company (Station 62).
F.D.M.T. and North Penn
firefighters forced entry through doors at the front and rear of
the building while Ladder 18's crew went to the roof and Engine
18 made the stretch.
A small fire was found burning
amongst a pile of trays and dishes on a kitchen counter area
while the sprinkler system held the flames in check and
ultimately extinguished the blaze.
A medium to heavy smoke
condition was cleared with positive pressure ventilation along
with the restaurants own exhaust system as firefighters checked
the kitchen walls and ceiling in the area for possible
extension.

In addition to Station 62,
F.D.M.T. was assisted by firefighters from Stations 14
(Fairmount), Station 15 (Horsham), Bucks County Engine 60 (Hilltown),
and Station 345 (Volunteer Medical Service Corps).
The Montgomery Township
Fire Marshal's office is continuing to investigate the cause of
the fire.
