(Montgomery Township)
-
There were no injuries after flames devoured a mailbox housing
at the Neshaminy Falls mobile home development.
Firefighters responded to the call
just after 11:30pm while on their way home from another alarm in
neighboring Horsham Township. Police arrived first and
reported that the community mailbox housing was fully engulfed
in flames.
Engine
18 made the stretch and made a quick knockdown of the flames,
but it wasn't enough to save about 150 mailboxes that were
either damaged or destroyed by the fire. Helping to fuel
the flames was all of the mail contained in the boxes, most of
which was also damaged or destroyed.
Also responding on the run were
Ladder 18, Rescue 18, and Special Service 18.
The Montgomery Township Fire
Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Postal officials were also called to
the scene to conduct their own investigation.
