2-ALARM BLAZE GUTS MULTIPLE APARTMENTS IN HORSHAM TOWNSHIP

(12/12/07 - Horsham Township) - A dog was the lone casualty after a mid-afternoon blaze destroyed 5 units at the English Village Apartment complex.  The dog was found amidst the ruins of the apartments in Building 13.

The first call went out at about 1:00pm after fire broke out in apartment B-1, quickly spreading and causing severe damage to 5 apartments while rendering a total of 11 uninhabitable.

FDMT was first on the scene with Deputy 18 Chris Mann taking command as other units from Horsham, Hatboro, and Wissahickon rolled in.  Firefighters quickly went to work opening up the building and putting handlines in place to stop the fire from spreading to the other half of the building.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, but investigators are looking at electrical components near the range in the kitchen of apartment B-1.
