(12/16/07 - Montgomery Township)
- Two people were transported to Central Montgomery Hospital
after escaping a kitchen fire inside their Upper State Road
home.
FDMT was dispatched after a 9-1-1
call from the home at 1407 Upper State Road and arrived to find
heavy smoke on the first floor. The crew of Engine 18
advanced a line through the front door as Ladder 18's crew
entered to find the fire, and discovered that it appeared to be
extinguished.
The Ladder crew began opening up the
house and checking for fire extension, but found none and
subsequently started ventilation operations.
One
resident suffered burns to her forehead and hands while the
other was treated for possible smoke inhalation. Police
reported that the residents did attempt to extinguish the blaze
with an extinguisher before being forced out by the smoke and
flames.
Two firefighters also suffered minor
injuries.
F.D.M.T. was assisted by Station 345
(VMSC), Rescue 15 (Horsham), Squad 12 (Colmar), Bucks County
Engine 34, Bucks County Engine 60, Bucks County Engine 78, and
Bucks County Ladder 74
The cause of the fire remains under
investigation by the Montgomery Township Fire Marshal's Office.
