F.D.M.T. FIREFIGHTER HONORED

February 17th, 2010 (North Wales Boro) -
A founding member of the Fire Department of Montgomery Township
has been recognized by the Montgomery County 5th District
Fireman's Association for his 25 years in the fire service.
F.D.M.T.'s first Fire Chief Dave Vasconez was
awarded the prestigious Earl Mayers Award for his contributions
to the fire service as a member of both the Colmar Volunteer
Fire Company and the Fire Department of Montgomery Township in a
ceremony at the North Penn Fire Company.
5th District President Al Novack (pictured with
Dave Vasconez, below left) read a brief biography of Dave's
career, paying particular attention to his specific role as a
founding member of F.D.M.T. in 2002. Novack noted that
Vasconez "was a leader who knew what had to be done and he
guided an infant into maturity and formed a bond with his
brotherhood, his community, neighboring communities, the
district and the county,"
 
Vasconez was joined by Lieutenant Joe Bennett,
Firefighter Dave Bennett, Firefighter Vinay Setty, F.D.M.T. President Dave
Wolfe, and F.D.M.T. 5th District Representative Joan Anton (pictured above
right) who were on hand to witness the award presentation.
Other award recipients during the evening included
Neil Rivel, captain of the Telford Dive and Rescue Team, who received the
Presidents Award..
Mike Coll, a member of the Perseverance Volunteer Fire Company of Souderton, was
named Firefighter of the Year, and Hatfield Quality Meats received the Community
Service Award.
